한국칠보협회는
1983년 고 이방자 여사께서 오랜 전통과 역사를 지니고 발전한 우리나라의 칠보를 계승하고 칠보의 향상과 발전을 위해 수준 높은 칠보를 보급하는 목적으로 창립전을 가진 이래로 매년 꾸준히 전시를 가져 34회의 전시를 가진 가장 오래된 공예 협회 중의 하나이며 칠보단체로는 국내에서 하나 밖에 없는 유일한 칠보단체입니다. 한국칠보작가협회는 그동안의 전시를 통해 칠보작품의 발전을 도모하고 회원 상호간의 자기 발전과 향상을 위해 노력하였습니다.
1983년 창립전과 6회전, 일본작가 찬조 출품을 비롯하여 16회전, 캐나다의 Jenny Gore 17회전, 미국의 Mary Thudk 18회전, 영국의 Elizabeth Turrell와 캐나다의 Fay Rooke 21회전, 미국 James Malenda와 캐나다의 Fay Rooke의 작품을 초대하여 전시하였고, 2004년에는 문예진흥 기금을 지원 받아 ‘뉴 밀레니엄 칠보작가 특별전’을 개최하였으며 2004년에는 ‘한일 칠보작가교류전’을 한국에서 주최 하였으며 2005년에는 ‘한일 칠보작가 초대출품전’을 일본의 초청으로 우에노의 모리 미술관에서 개최되었습니다. 또한 본 협회는 전시를 통하여 장신구, 생활소품, 오브제, 회화 등의 칠보의 여러 분야의 가능성을 보여줌으로써 한국 전통 문화의 계승과 발전을 널리 알리고 나아가 각계의 관심을 공예문화 육성에 집중 시키려는 노력을 계속해 왔습니다.앞으로 폭넓은 한국 칠보의 향상과 발전을 위해 국제 교류등 여러 계획을 가지고 있습니다.
Society of Korean Enamelists
Society of Korean Enamelists was founded in 1983 by the late Madame Lee, Bang-ja with a purpose of succeeding and further improving the long tradition and history of Korean enameling art by promoting quality enamel works. As the only enameling artist association and one of the oldest craft-oriented organizations in Korea, Society of Korean Enamelists has held 34 times of exhibitions regularly since its foundation. Throughout the years, Society of Korean Enamelists has continually sought development of enameling art and self-development of its members through various exhibiting activities.
Starting from the founding exhibition in 1983, Society of Korean Enamelists held numbers of exhibitions featuring international guest artists: For example, Japanese artists at the 1st and the 6th exhibition; Jenny Gore, Canada at the 16th; Mary Thudk from the U.S. at the 17th; Elizabeth Turrell, U.K. and Fay Rooke, Canada at the 18th; and James Malenda from the U.S. and Fay Rooke from Canada at the 21st exhibition. Society of Korean Enamelists further hosted the New Millennium Special Exhibition of Enamel Artist sponsored by the Korea Culture and Arts Promotion Fund and the Korea/Japan Enamel Artist Exchange Exhibition in 2004. Also, it contributed to the 2005 Korea/Japan Enamel Artist Invitation Exhibition hosted by the Ueno Royal Museum, Japan. Through such exhibitions, Society of Korean Enamelists has been dedicated to promoting the excellence of Korean traditional culture and the importance of craft culture by showing the potential of enameling art in various fields such as ornaments, home and living goods, objets, and paintings. Society of Korean Enamelists will further continue to encourage international exchanges to widen the scope of Korean enameling art.
